Personal Protective Equipment or PPE as it is commonly known refers to protective clothing, safety helmets, googles (eye protector), or other garments or equipment designed to protect the user against health and safety risks. In Malaysia, the approval of PPE is a requirement of the Factories and Machinery Act 1967 and Occupational Health and Safety Act 1994 And Regulations. There are seven types of PPE that require the approval from the Department of Occupational Safety and Health Malaysia (DOSH), namely: head protection, sight protection, respiratory/ breathing protection, hand protection, body protection, feet protection, and hearing protection.
