Tilting Type Fire Resistance Test Furnace

SIRIM QAS International's fire protection laboratory is regarded as the most comprehensive in the country and is fully equipped with up-to-date facilities to carry out testing in accordance with national and international standards.  The latest facility is the 5m x 4m Hydraulic tilting type fire resistance test furnace, which provides fire resistance tests furnace for horizontal elements of construction complementing the existing testing services.  This furnace is also capable of testing bigger test specimen of more than 3m x 3m.  Fire resistance tests for non-loadbearing and loadbearing horizontal elements of construction such as flooring system, roofing system, suspended ceiling, beam, horizontal roller shutter assemblies, and ducting system can be tested using this facility.

Certification, Labelling and Importation requirements for Hybrid Products

The Customs (Prohibition of Imports) (Amendment) (No.4) Order 2015 has been gazetted on 1st July 2015 and will be fully enforced by 1st October 2015, specifically for Hybrid Product under the New Product Category.  Hybrid Product Categories covers a range of apparatus or equipment such as electrical appliances, computer products, medical devices, and toys, which are integrated with a communications module for connecting to a public communications or radion communications utilizing the frequency band up to 420 THz.  Under the new amendment of the Order, all importation of Hybrid Product shall be accompanied with an import permit/Certificate of Approcal (CoA) by SIRIM as the Cross Border Regulatory Agency (CBRA).  The issuance of import permit/CoA is subject to compliance with the Type Approval or Special Approval specified by MCMC and shall comply with Malaysian Standards or Technical Codes or Technical Declaration, which are deemed fit to the import and in accordance with the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
