SIRIM QAS International is proud of its latest testing facility, the commercial Brake Testing Laboratory, which is the only one of its kind in the region.  The services provided by this laboratory will greatly facilitate the effective implementation of regulations relating to replacement brake lining assemblies and drum brake lining.  This, in turn, provides consumers with assurance that the replacement parts offered for sale, both manufactured locally and imported, are safe and meet the regulation and standard gazetted by the authorities.  The demand for brake friction materials, i.e. disc brake pads and drum brake linings as well as disc and drum assemblies, and as a consequence, the demand for testing and certification of these materials, would grow in tandem with the growth in the volume of motor vehicle in the country, given that brake friction materials were used in new vehicles and in replacement parts.  The brake testing facility is also required to support current and to-be market drivers, mainly in the form of legislation, policies, and incentives by the government to local manufacturers.  In supporting the government, the brake testing facility would help in attracting investments in high value-added manufacturing activities using latest and high technology, in line with Malaysia's implementation of the Industry 4.0 Revolution.
